In response to CSJ’s PIL, High Court of Chhattisgarh orders a study of successful DV Act schemes

In 2013, a PIL filed by CSJ’s volunteer Mrs. Rekha Raj prayed for issuance of direction to the state of Chhattisgarh for effective and proper implementation of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. According to the PIL, the state has not setup basic infrastructure and necessary administrative machinery due to which the objects and purpose of the act namely; “more effective protection to the rights of women guaranteed under constitution of India who are victims of violence of any kind occurring within the family and for matters connected there with or incidental thereto”, are being frustrated.

In response to this, along with many subsequent orders, High court of Chhattisgarh at Bilaspur passed an order on 29th June 2017  that certain projects like Dove and Kutti mission schemes (also approved by NALSA) to be comprehensibly considered for application in Chhattisgarh by SLSA, Additional Advocate general and Petitioner’s counsel.
